Dodgers Set to Face Redbirds in Home Opener

HANOVER, Md. — After a 6-3 road loss to the Gaithersburg Giants Monday, the Baltimore Dodgers return home to start a season of games at Joe Cannon Stadium against the Baltimore Redbirds.
 
The Redbirds were crowned Cal Ripken League regular season champions in 2016 but failed to pick up their fifth straight league championship, falling to the Bethesda Big Train in the championship series.
 
One key 2016 Redbird that could appear against the Dodgers is Penn State catcher Ryan Sloniger, who could be one of the more important players in Sheets’ lineup. Sloniger was up and down with the bat this season, ultimately hitting .215 with a .292 on-base percentage, but he was known as one of the best defensive catchers in the Big Ten, which earned him a chance to start 43 games for the Nittany Lions.

Dodgers Take on Gaithersburg to Kick Off 2017

GAITHERSBURG, MD – The 2017 Baltimore Dodgers kick off their season tonight at Criswell Automotive field against the Gaithersburg Giants. The Dodgers are coming off a season in which they recorded 15 wins, more wins than any other season in team history. Unfortunately, it is also a season that saw them drop 13 of 15 and miss out on the playoffs in the final week of the season.

They will be facing a Gaithersburg team that was 19-21 last summer and reached the league semi-finals, after an upset over the Silver Spring Tacoma T-Bolts. A 9-1 victory over the Dodgers on the final day of the regular season certainly gave them momentum heading into the wild card round.

The beauty of college summer ball is that it is easy to forget what happened from one season to the next, as most teams only return a select few players from summer to summer. 1st Annual Bull Roast

The Baltimore Dodgers is having the 1st annual Bull Roast to raise money for the coming season. The event will be held at the Arbutus Social Club on June 3rd, 2017. Items on the menu will include the following: pit beef, pit turkey, jerk chicken, Italian sausage, steamed shrimp, crab soup, beer, soda, and much more.
